MAIKA - the new band around singer Maika Küster, known for various formations such as "Der wise Panda", but also solo, duo and trio projects, appears with songs that are both catchy and yet demanding. Sometimes rocking, sometimes soft, their pieces form a continuous flow and surprise with unexpected melodic turns.
With a fragile, melancholic voice, Maika Küster guides her listeners through a wide variety of emotional states, which she vividly depicts in her pieces. The texts, which sometimes unfold in spoken word aesthetics, do the rest with their occasionally enigmatic imagery. It's about death and transience, but also lust and sensuality. MAIKA is not spiritual. And yet, the concerts are always a search for those moments that oppose the inevitability of the end. Moments in which the players and listeners can feel briefly confirmed that life's hard work was and is worth it over and over again.
